UN Security Council Targets Islamist Militants in Iraq and Syria

The UN Security Council today voted unanimously to blacklist six people, including the spokesperson for ISIL, and threatened sanctions against those who finance, recruit or supply weapons insurgents, in effort to weaken the al Qaeda splinter group that’s managed to seize territory in Iraq and Syria. The six named in today’s resolution are subject to an international travel ban, freezing their assets and subject to an arms embargo.
